Ferry Boarding Changes Coming August 2023
Starting August 10, 2023 all San Francisco Bay Ferry passengers will be required to show proof of fare payment when boarding the ferry on ALL routes. This new process is being implemented with the aim of speeding up the disembarkation process upon arrival at the dock.
Clipper Users
Clipper users will continue to Tag On and Tag Off before and after their journey
Paper & Mobile Ticket Holders
Be prepared to show proof of payment to crews as you board.
Passengers Without Tickets
Upon boarding, deckhands will give passengers without tickets a ticket slip and ask for the passengers' last name and group size (if you are traveling with anyone else). Upon boarding the vessel, the passenger will be required to purchase tickets for themselves and everyone in their group prior to the vessel arriving at its destination.
