The revitalization of Hacienda Heights represents a long-awaited bright future for building residents and the surrounding community. The redevelopment was co-led by Community Housing Development Corporation, a local leader in housing development and management with a significant presence in Richmond, and Mercy Housing California, a nationally recognized affordable housing organization, in partnership with the City of Richmond and Richmond Housing Authority. After closing in 2014 due to onsite conditions, the building reopened this year. It features a seismic retrofit, expanded access to downtown amenities, expansive public art, and new energy-efficient appliances for all apartment homes. Twenty-five homes have been reserved for people exiting homelessness, who will receive supportive services and case management from provider organization Hope Solutions.
