Street Sweeping Is Back in Richmond

Street Sweeping Signs Are Back
After a hiatus during the global pandemic, the City of Richmond, CA officially approved an allocation of over $500,000 from the general fund to install street sweeping signs in select areas. The program will be rolled out over the next 8-9 months and will include public education on updates to parking restrictions and enforcement.
The city hopes to distribute street-sweeping parking restrictions in an equitable manner and to help clean up areas affected by blight. Another goal is to help clean up the storm drains to ensure pollutants don't enter the water table.
"The City desires to resume enforcing street sweeping parking restrictions in an equitable matter and citywide. The purpose is to facilitate removal of debris from City gutters during street sweeping operations, and meet City’s legal requirement to prevent pollutants from entering the storm drain system." — Eduardo Martinez, Mayor, City of Richmond, CA
