NWS Advisory: Flood and Wind Risk for Richmond Residents

A Pineapple Express (atmospheric river) is fast approaching Richmond, according to the National Weather Service. Are you prepared for heavy rain and strong winds up to 50 mph? Read on for tips to keep your home and family safe.
First, proactively check fixtures and appliances likely to be impacted by weather. These include storm drains and outdoor furniture. You should also plan on stocking your emergency supplies — first aid kits, backup generators, water, and non-perishable foods.
This storm will be the first of several hitting the Bay Area in the following weeks. Please be on the lookout for flooding as well and drive safe!

- Free Sandbags at The West County Detention Facility at 5555 Giant Highway, Richmond. Open 24/7, bring a shovel. Bags are located in a gray plastic trash bin, with a sand cradle on the south side of the facility parking lot.
